Singer-songwriter John Martyn has died at the age of 60.

The folk, blues and funk artist was widely regarded as one of the most soulful and innovative singer-songwriters of his generation.

He was born in Surrey but grew up in Glasgow. He was appointed an OBE in the New Year Honours.
A statement on his website on Thursday said: “With heavy heart and an unbearable sense of loss we must announce that John died this morning.”

Shit man, going to miss this guy. Music’s just lost a legend. Went to one of his shows just before Christmas, it was fuckin’ amazing.

They look awesome! Got to hand it to the Germans man, they can definately organise a festival. Can’t wait. Went last year for the first time and it was one of the best festivals I’ve ever been to. 4 days of heavy metal! Hopefully this year will live up to last’s standards.

Wacken 2009

Plus, Cathedral are playing. Not been in to them for very long, but looking forward to headbanging away to some of their groovy doom riffs! Bring it on!
